Re: Overhanging trees on City Streets
Dennis,
In response to our meeting on Tuesday November 17th we have reviewed the
trees along the routes you indicated as being the potential source of the scratch
on your motor home. It is the City of Yelm's intent to maintain a clearance of 14
feet over our right of way as measured from the fog line or curb. This clearance
meets Washington State Transportation Standards and is sufficient for school
buses, public transportation and semi trucks. We did not identify any of our right
of way that did not meet these standards during our review.
Rhoton Road is a Thurston County road and as such you will need to contact
them regarding their policy for maintenance of tree limbs over the road.
During your visit you also mentioned the need for help on preparing a RV pad for
your motor home from the City of Yelm Sewer Department. Jim Doty, manager
of our Sewer Department, has discussed this with you previously and I will
sumerize his conversation. The process of excavating into the bank by you
resulted in pulling the wiring from your tank to the control panel located on your
neighbors property. The City of Yelm repaired that wiring at no cost to you. Any
additional work on the wiring will be at your expense and meet City of Yelm
requirements. The step tank located on your property is shared by your
neighbor. To protect the step tank will need to provided a 6 inch reinforced
concrete slab with a load bearing lid. Lid elevation, inlet and outlet elevations
shall meet the City of Yelm requirements. The City of Yelm will assist you to
accomplish this project.
If I can be of any help or answer any questions please feel free to contact me at
360- 458 -8407. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Gary Carlson
