Re: New Paint Colors
Dear Mr. and Ms Gaylord
I am following up our conversion yesterday regarding your selection of exterior paint
colors with a letter as you requested. The City of Yelm has adopted design guidelines for
four districts within our incorporated area. Your restaurant is located in the Central
Business District, which is part of the Old Town Design Guideline District. As it implies
these district guidelines are in place to retain the historic integrity of the core section of
the City. Any revision to the fagade must be within these guidelines. Painting is
considered a revision, and must meet these three standards for colors:
• Basic building shell should be earth tones, taupe, brown, red - brown, buff,
gray, cream, white, natural wood, brick or stone.
• Trim should be white, black, dark blue, dark green, dark teal, dark red, or
other deep saturated colors.
• Bright accent colors should not cover more then 10% of any building
fagade
The color of blue you selected for your building shell does not meet these standards and
needs to be brought within our current design standards for paint colors on the fagade.
If I can be of help or answer any further questions, please feel free to contact me at 458-
8407. Thank you.
