Dear Ms. Eckroth and Mr. Hays:
With the recent events involving the closing of the Roadrunner Cafe, the nonconforming sign at
the corner of Railway and Yelm Ave must be removed.
18.62.130(4) Legal nonconforming signs. When a business oractivity with a legal nonconforming
off - premises sign changes the sign face or name of the business, then such off - premises sign must be brought
into conformance with all provisions of this chapter.
18.62.030(J) Prohibited signs. Signs which are located upon or projecting from a building or wall, over
public streets, sidewalks, or rights -of -way, except as provided for awnings and marquees in YMC 18.62.160;
18.62.150(A) Removal of unlawful signs. Any unlawful sign which has not been removed within 30
days after notice of violation may be removed by the city and the costs charged to the violator. If removal costs
have not been paid and the sign reclaimed within 30 days of its removal by the city, the city may sell or
otherwise dispose of the sign and apply the proceeds toward costs of removal. Any proceeds in excess of costs
of removal shall be paid to the owner of the sign.
This sign is located in the cities rights -of -way and must be removed no later than April 7, 2017.
All future signs must conform to Yelm Municipal Code Chapter 18.62.
