Yelm City Council Budget Work Session
Tuesday, October 10, 2006
Mayor Harding called the meeting to order at 4:10 p.m.
Present: Don Miller, Joe Baker, Bob Isom, Pat Fetterly and Russ Hendrickson. John Thompson and Mike
McGowan arrived later.
Staff: Shelly Badger, Agnes Bennick, Grant Beck, Tim Peterson and Stephanie Ray. Todd Stancil arrived later.
Budget Work Session to discuss Current Fund Review and Department needs.
Shelly Badger provided 2007 Scope of Work from the Economic Development Council of Thurston County and
asked for Council consideration for increasing the yearly budget from $3;000 to $6,000 or $10,000 with intent te'
ramp up research, assistance, resources and development and marketing of the industrial commercial appeal for
bu'sinesses to establish in Yelm.
CONSENSUS TO INCREASE 2007 BUDGET TO $6,000 FOR THURSTON COUNTY ECONOMIC
DEVELOp,MENT COUNCIL.
1. WE!-FAREI Community Services 001 551, Mental Health Substance Abuse assessment and Historic
. Preservation allocation remain the same. Increases to Library Services and decrease to OMWBE expense.
2. DEPARTMENT NEEDS - Capital Needs and Interfund Transfers
558 Grant Beck, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT'increase request to cover additional staff position from 2006,
large format scanner'to accommodate the black and white asbuilts and one new vehicle to replace aged
car and a second vehicle for the staff position above.
, 576 Tim Peterson, PARKS increase for staff position for ground maintenance and management of ball fields
at Longmire Park. Additional mower to remain at that park,
101 Tim Peterson, STREETS need to replace ailing equipment to be budgeted through Water, Sewer and
Streets. Additional transfer of funds for increased operating costs.

118 Grant Beck, TREE FUND increase for salary position of 2006 addition:
109 Todd Stancil, SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER, operating transfer
POLICE staff position additions including; Patrol Officer, Sergeant's pay adjustment for 2 position filled
within and adding a Crime Prevention Officer,
