Background The City received a petition, signed by 2/3 of the abutting property owners, to vacate the Stevens Street right-of-way between Solberg Street and Longmire Street. RCW 35 79 requires the City Council set a public hearing date, by Resolution, to consider the petition The attached Resolution No 408, sets a public hearing date for January 10, 2001 Prior to the close of the public hearing, Chapter 16 14, requires the petition be referred to the Planning Commission for review and comment. The petition is scheduled for their review on December 18, 2000 If at the close of the public hearing, the City Council determines to grant said petition, the staff will prepare an ordinance authorizing the vacation The Council may require the adjacent property owners to compensate the City in an amount which does not exceed one-half the appraised value of the area vacated .CITY.
