Wednesday, August 28, 1996
6:00 P.M.
Subject: Building/Equipment/SpacejStaff Projections
Present:
Mayor Wolf, Councilmembers:
Adam Rivas, and Velma Curry.
Peterson and Agnes Bennick.
Amos Lawton, Don Miller,
Staff: Shelly Badger, Tim
Shelly Badger explained that the options for expanding/increasing
space, being distributed at the meeting, were the result of a
brain storming session. Rough costs were arrived at working with
Bruce McKean, an architect at Helix.'
Mayor Wolf stated that the City's first priority had to be the
sewer treatment plant and that all else is secondary. Don Miller
added that water rights was also a priority. Shelly Badger
responded that applications had been submitted to DOE for
consideration and staff was looking into other possibilities~
Mayor Wolf indicated that the main purpose of the meeting is to
review the options and decide where to go from here? She reminded
Councilmembers that last year they agreed to committing dollars to
salary, and added that perhaps we can also commit a portion to the
Municipal Building Fund. Unfortunately, not much funding is
available from grants for municipal building purposes.
Members reviewed all presented options. Councilmember Lawton
expressed his belief that all city facilities should be in the same
location. Councilmember Rivas questioned the possibility of the
public safety building serving as a library. .
Additional fact gathering is needed and Council consensus favored
a meeting to be scheduled in November, following budget work
sessions. Follow-up items include determining if it is.possible to
add on to the public safety building and determining the actual
value of existing City owned property.
