06-11 MOTION MADE BY JOHN THOMSON, SECONDED BY JOHN GRAVER TO
APPROVE THE MINUTES FROM THE MAY 15, 2006 MEETING. MOTION CARRIED.
Public Communications:
Glen Cunninaham informed the Commission that Norm Allard, and Greg Mattocks have
resigned due to employment conflicts.
Tami Merriman stated that the vacancy notices have been published.
Glen Cunningham requested a member volunteer for the Planning Commission liaison
position on the Yelm Transportation Committee. Carlos Perez volunteered to serve on
that board, but may need to relinquish the position due to school conflicts.
Public Hearina -None
Other:
Kathy McCormick went over the proposed changes and updates from the
Comprehensive Plan review subcommittee. John Thomson thanked Ms. McCormick for
her hard work, and easy to understand information.
Glen Cunningham inquired as to why the dates in the Plan extend 25 years, not just 20
as required in a Comprehensive Plan. Ms. McCormick replied that other jurisdictions in
the past have used the extended numbers, and it assures that the plan is most current at
the end of the update, due to the length of time it requires to update Comprehensive
Plans.
Carlos Perez inquired as to why the Comprehensive Plan includes requirements for
affordable housing, as the developers and builders build to market needs. Ms.
McCormick replied that the information regarding the need for affordable housing
provides the basis for the City to require or allow affordable housing during project
review.
Ms. McCormick went over the procedures and displays that will be used at the
Comprehensive Plan Update Open House scheduled on June 29, 2006.
The Plan Update Subcommittee will determine if an additional meeting is required to
review comments received at the open house. This meeting will be scheduled the week
on July 10, 2006 if needed.
