MOUNTING BRACKET FIGURE 3c The Wet Chemical System ~G~ GU~~® Mechanical Control Box C-5 Mechanical Control Box The Mechanical Control box (Figure Sc), which is mounted on tap of the Cylinder Valve, is used to directly discharge a single Range Guard Cylinder regardless of cylinder size. The Mechanical Contrcl Box can be used with a Tandem Box(es) far multiple cylinder operation. It can also be used to operate a mechanical gas valve and designed to accommodate either one or two single pole double throw (SPOT) micraswitch(s). ', The Mechanical Control Box actuates the Cylinder Valve by means of a spring operated leverthat forces a movable pin into the Cylinder valve. This opens the valve allowing the agent to discharge into the system piping. The tension holding the lever in place is released when (1) afusihle link operates. (2) the pull pin is removed from either the Mechanical Control Box or a Remote Manual Contrcl. A Reset Tooi (Figure Sc, Detail A) and Keeper Pin (Fgure Sc. Detail B) are available to assist in the setting of the Mechanical Control Box. The ResetTool is designed to setthe Control Head Lever to its proper position with a minimum of effort. The Keeper Pin is inserted in the Control Head so that the cable tension can be applied to the detection line while the Control Head Lever is locked in place. NOTE: THE MECHANICAL CONTROL BOX HAS BEEN DESIGNED SO THAT THE DOOR CANNOT BE CLOSED WITH THE KEEPER PIN INSTALLED. THIS IS TO INSURE THAT THE INSTALLER DOES NOT LEAVE THE JOB SITE WITHOUT REMOVING THE KEEPER PIN FROM THE CON- TROL HEAD. CAUTION: THE SYSTEM IS INOPERATIVE WITH THE KEEP EA PIN INSTALLED IN THE MECHANICAL CON- TAOLHEAD. Assembly of the Mechanical Control Box Assembly of the Mechanical Control is simple and easy. Referto pages P L-3 3 PL-4, of this manual, for instructions and a detailed illustration of the Mechanical Control Box and its components. Detailed assembly instructions are provided with each Mechanical Control Box. Parts are shipped loose. This is accomplished by removing the pull pin, releasing the tension in the detection cable, allowing the Control Head to activate the cylinder. If an End-of-Line Remote Manual Control is not applicable. it can be converted to an In-Line Remote Manual Control by using an In-Line Kit. The Mechanical Control Box can be used with a Tandem Box(es) far multiple cylinder operation. It can also he used to operate a mechanical gas valve and designed to accommodate either one or two single pale double throw (SPDT) microswitch(s). The Mechanical ControlBaxaC.uatestheCylinderValveby means of a spring operated leverthat fo rtes a movable pin into the Cylinder valve. This opens the valve allowing the agent to discharge into the system piping. The tension holding the lever in place is released when (t) a fusible link operates. (2) the pull pin is removed from either the Mechanical Control Box or a Remote Manual Control. A Reset Tool (Fgure Sc, Detail A) and Keeper Pin (Figure Sc, Detail B) are available to assist in the setting of the Mechanical Control Box. The Reset Tool is designed tc set the Control Head Lever to its proper position with a minimum of effort. The Keeper Pin is inserted in the Control Head so that the cable tension can be applied to the detection line while the Control Head Lever is locked in place. NOTE: THE MECHANICAL CONTROL BOX HAS BEEN DESIGNED SO THAT THE DOOR CANNOT EE CLOSED WITH THE KEEPER PIN INSTALLED. THIS IS TO INSURE THAT THE INSTALLER DOES NOT LEAVE THE JOB SITE WITHOUT REMOVING THE KEEPER PIN FROM THE CON- TROL HEAD. CAUTION: THE SYSTEM IS INOPERATIVE WITH THE KEEPER PIN INSTALLED IN THE MECHANICAL CON- TROL HEAD. Assembly of the Mechanical Control Box Assembly of the Mechanical Control is simple and easy.
