3 1 2 MINICIPAL* Center. This existing building is presently zoned as storage. In order to reuse part of this building as publically accessible Social Service Satellite offices, a Site Plan Review and implement-ation will be required. This would provide a “one-stop” satellite service site for agencies like DSHS, Veterans Administration, Social Security, Sidewalk, City Gates with ADA accessible desks, internet and phone, locked filing and storage, and interview rooms, restrooms, meeting rooms, and a kitchen. Existing emergency and disaster supplies and clothing, food, and medical equipment storage would remain unchanged. MINICIPAL* Parking Lot. This area to be paved would provide ADA and regular parking for the Minicipal Center, Downtown Core Businesses, community events like the Prairie Days and Christmas in the Park parades, Farmer’s Market, the Minicipal Transitional Housing and Shop, Emergency and Disaster Response vehicles and paved church parking that will be mandated by the Site Plan Review. This might enable La Gitana to provide drive-through service and other neighboring businesses to benefit from additional customer parking. In times of emergency or disaster this pavement will facilitate use of the Minicipal buildings and site as a Point Of Distrib-ution for Red Cross, Southern Baptist Disaster Response, Team Rubicon Disaster Response, and local CERTs to set-up and operate their feeding trailers, shower and laundry trailers, park their heavy equipment and distribute food and other emergency supplies in concert with our community Emergency Services program and personnel. MINICIPAL* Transitional Housing, Shop. The existing storage buildings would be set on foundations, insulated, wired and heated to provide four “mini-homes” for folks in various stages of homelessness. The new steel building between them would provide individual and shared kitchen and restroom facilities for the “mini-homes” and shop; a radio shack loft for community ham radio operation, emergency supplies storage, and a shop/garage area where local mechanics can provide volunteer mainten-ance and repair for needy single parent families, homeless folks, and disaster/ emergency response vehicles and equipment. Existing CERT and VERT groups could use the shop area for training and staging and coordination in the event of an actual disaster or community emergency. The High School could use this for a student community service and senior project site. 2016 Community Development Block Grant proposal.
