1. Mayor Pro -Tem Wood called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
2. Roll Call Present: EJ Curry, Cody Colt, Tad Stillwell, Joe DePinto and Terry
Kaminski. Absent: Molly Carmody and Mayor Foster.
18-097 MOTION BY TAD STILLWILL TO EXCUSE MOLLY CARMODY FROM THE
MEETING. SECONDED BY EJ CURRY. 5-0, MOTION CARRIED.
3. Agenda Approval
18-098 MOTION BY EJ CURRY TO APPROVE THE AGENDA AS PRESENTED.
SECONDED BY TAD STILLWELL. 5-0, MOTION CARRIED.
4. Special Presentations- Potential uses for current City Hall building -
Fay Fuller Proclamation
Open invitation to the public to share thoughts on the future use of the current
city hall building located at 105 Yelm Ave. W.
5. Public Comment -
Tammy Sweem shared her concerns about the Nisqually River Park in Nisqually
Pines.

ADDITION OF THE COCHRANE PARK USE REQUEST. SECONDED BY TERRY
KAMINSKI. 5-0, MOTION CARRIED.

8. New Business -
a. Funding Contract with Department of Commerce (DOC) for Playground
Modernization at City Park
18-100 MOTION BY TERRY KAMINSKI AUTHORIZING MAYOR FOSTER TO SIGN A
FUNDING CONTRACT WITH THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF
COMMERCE FOR A FUNDING AWARD IN THE AMOUNT OF $239,590.00
FOR CITY PARK PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT MODERIZATION. SECONDED
BY EJ CURRY. 5-0, MOTION CARRIED.
9. Old Business - none scheduled
10. Department Updates by Public Works Director, Chad Bedlington-
• Union Negotiations start next week with AFSCME. The proposed Collective
Bargaining Agreement will come before Council when it's finished for their
approval.
o The Budget Schedule has been emailed to Council and Staff and is moving
along. Budget Workshop will be scheduled soon.
o National Night Out was a huge success. Attendance was the best yet.
o The Computer Support Specialist position has been filled and they will start in
September.
o A new Police Officer was hired and he will start in September. He comes from
the City of Algona.
o The carpet has been removed at the new City Hall location and the
remodeling is underway.
11. Mayor and Council Initiatives-
Councilmember Colt attended the Yelm General Government Committee
meeting and had the new forms for council to review for bringing Items forward to
the full Council. Councilmember Colt attended the National Night, Out thanked Mr.
Doug's Restaurant for the generous donation of food for the event.
Councilmember DePinto attended the Yelm Finance Committee meeting.
Councilmember DePinto Is unable to attend the upcoming South Thurston
Economic Development Initiative Group meeting and asked if anyone is interested
in attending on his behalf. Councilmember DePinto has turned his budget priorities
into the Finance Director.
Mayor Pro -Tem Wood attended the Yelm General Government Committee
meeting. Mayor Pro -Tem Wood would like an update on the study that was done
a while back on the feasibility for a YMCA in Yelm.
12. Executive Session - none scheduled
