691 Amend Ch 2.48.010CITY OF YELM ORDINANCE 691 AN ORDINANCE amending Chapter 2.48.010 of theYelm Municipal Code, Section 1 of Ordinance 199 (1976) and Civil Service Rules and Procedures (Resolution 333, 7/15) by excluding the Police Chief from Classified Civil Service Provisions and establishing an effective date. WHEREAS, RCW 41.12.050 grants authority to the legislative body of cities, towns, and municipalities to exclude from Civil Service Rules individuals appointed as police chief after July 1, 1987, to a department with six or more commissioned officers; and WHEREAS, the Chief of Police is an exempt employee appointed to serve at the discretion of the appointing authority; and WHEREAS, the City Council believes this exemption will benefit the City and the operations of the Yelm Police Department; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Yelm, Thurston County, does ordain Section 1. Amendment to City of Yelm Ordinance No. 199 (1976), Section 1 shall be amended by deleting the word including and inserting in it place the word excluding. Civil Service Established. In order to carry out the provisions of Chapter 41.12 of the Revised Code of Washington (Chapter 13, Laws of 1937), as amended, there is hereby created and established in the City of Yelm, a classified civil service for all full paid policemen of the City, ~slg excluding the Police Chief. Section 2. Effective Date. This ordinance shall become effective five days following publication as provided for by law. ADOPTED this 26th day of January, 2000.
