687 Amend Yelm Municipal Code Ch 3.40.020CITY OF YELM
ORDINANCE NO. 687
AN ORDINANCE amending Yelm Municipal Code Chapter 3.40.020,
Subsections A and B by reducing the gambling tax rate charged for Bingo
and Raffles.
WHEREAS, the Washington State Legislature took action in 1999 to reduce the
maximum tax rate for bingo and raffles from ten (10) percent to five (5) percent of the gross
revenues less the amount paid for prizes; and
WHEREAS, the Washington State Legislature set the new rates to be effective January 1,
2000; and
NOW, THEREFORE the City Council of the City Of Yelm, Thurston County, Does Hereby
Ordain:
Section 1. Section 3.40.020, subsection A and B are hereby amended as shown
A. Bingo. In the amount of the gross receipts therefrom, less the amount of money paid in
cash, and paid for merchandise, actually awarded as pt7zes during the taxable period,
multiplied by the rate of tee five percent;
B. Raffles. In the amount of the gross receipts therefrom, less the amount of money paid in
cash, and paid for merchandise, actually awarded as prizes during the taxable period,
multiplied by the rate of tei} five percent;
Section 2. Severability. If any provisions of this ordinance or its application to any
person or circumstance are held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance or the application of
the provisions to other persons or circumstances is not affected.
Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect five days following
publication as prescribed by law.
