10-27-04 MINUTES YELM CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES REGULAR MEETING WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2004 1. Call to Order. Mayor Rivas called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. 2. Roll Call. Present: Don Miller, Joe Baker, Bob Isom, and Ron Harding. Excused: Pat Fetterly 3. 04-92 Agenda Approval MOTION BY BOB ISOM, SECONDED BY RON HARDING APPROVING THE AGENDA AS PRESENTED. CARRIED. 4. Special Presentations - None Scheduled 5. Public Comment Ricky Pollock, Rebecca Gladney, Ken Campbell and Sandra RuzBasan expressed concerns about activity at the Lighthouse (Community Thrift). Concerns expressed included late/non-payment for consignments, rude or inappropriate language and illegal activity. The individuals reported threats being made against them as they picketed the business. Mayor Rivas thanked the speakers and informed them that picketing along sidewalks is within their rights as long as they don't block access. If threats are made, or illegal activity witnessed, they should be reported to the Yelm Police Department. 6. Consent Agenda a. Council Minutes: October 13, 2004 Regular Meeting and October 5, 12, 19 Budget Work Sessions. b. Payables: Checks 23699 - 23791, totaling $317,259.16 1) Manual Checks 23699 - 23731, totaling $7,547.54 2) Claims Checks 23732 - 23791, totaling $309,711.62 c. Mayor and Council Reports and Initiatives and Board/Commission Business Councilmember Isom met with Sean Eagan, Congressman Smith's legislative assistant. Congressman Smith is working to insure funding is earmarked for the 510/507 Loop. Funding looks promising at this time. They are also receptive to working for funding for the rail line. Councilmember Isom did find that there is no available funding for Yelm projects in the Homeland Security package. Mayor Rivas reminded everyone of tomorrow night's 5 p.m. Council Study Session. 11.
