STUDY SESSION MINUTES
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 28,2004
5:00 P.M., CITY HALL
1. Mayor Rivas. called the meeting to order at 5:00 P.M.
2. Roll ·Call
Present: Don Miller, Joe Baker, Bob Isom, and Mayor Adam Rivas
Excused: Ron Harding and Pat Fetterly
Staff: Shelly Badger, Maryam Olson, Brent Dille, and Grant Beck
3. Agenda Approval
4. Presentations
a. Maryam Olson presented the Yelm Municipal Court Update.
5. Mayor/Council Initiatives Introduced/Discussed
a. Council member Isom requested that the Council consider a public forum on
WalMart. The Council discussed the merits of holding a community forum and
requested staff pursue the concept and report back to Council.
6. New Business
a. 2005 Retreat Planning. The Council discussed the 2005 Council retreat and
established a date of January 15, 2005, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The Council
further concluded that Department Heads and the City Administrator should
attend the morning session, and that the protocal manual would not be a topic of
the retreat.
