RESOLUTION NO. 374
A RESOLUTION RELATING TO HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT
AND ADOPTING THE HAZARDOUS WASTE PLAN FOR THURSTON
COUNTY FOR THE SOUND MANAGEMENT OF HAZARDOUS WASTES
PRODUCED BY HOUSEHOLDS AND SMALL BUSINESSES IN SMALL
QUANTITIES.
WHEREAS, the 1'998 Hazardous Waste Plan for Thurston County provides for
management of hazardous wastes which are produced by households and by small businesses in
small quantities; and
WHEREAS, RCW 70.105.220(1) requires that each jurisdiction, or combination of
contiguous local jurisdictions to prepare a local hazardous waste management plan; and
WHEREAS, improperly disposed hazardous wastes from households and small businesses
degrade public health and environment health; and
WHEREAS, hazardous waste management from households and small businesses is not
addressed by state regulation, except under certain circumstances; and
WHEREAS, the 1998 Hazardous Waste Plan for Thurston County establishes guidelines
for reducing the generation of hazardous wastes from households and small businesses and for the
safe and responsible management of these wastes;
WHEREAS, the Yelm City Council advocates environmentally sound waste management;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Yelm, as a member of the Thurston County Solid Waste Advisory
Committee, assisted in the preparation of the local hazardous waste plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Yelm, that
the 1998 Hazardous Waste Plan for Thurston County is hereby approved and adopted.
