368 Discretionary Increase In Property Taxes For 1998CITY OF YELM
RESOLUTION NO. 368
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YELM,
WASHINGTON, ADOPTING A DISCRETIONARY INCREASE IN PROPERTY
TAXES FOR 1998 AND VOLUNTARILY FOLLOWING THE PROVISIONS
OF RCW 84.55.120, AS IT WOULD BE AMENDED BY THE PASSAGE OF
REFERENDUM 47.
WHEREAS, the City Council has properly given notice of the public hearing held
November 12, 1997 and continued to November 25, 1997 to consider the City of Yelm's
current expense budget for the 1998 calendar year, pursuant to RCW 84.55.120; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, after hearing, and after duly considering relevant
evidence and testimony presented, has determined that the City of Yelm requires an
increase in property tax revenue above the $338,822 from the previous year, in addition to
any increase resulting from the addition of new construction and improvements to
property and any increase in the value of state-assessed property and new value increases
from plats or annexations, in order to discharge the expected expenses and obligations of
the City and in its best interest;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of
Yelm that an increase in the regular property tax levy, in addition to any amount resulting
from the addition of new construction and improvements to property, and any increase in
the value of state-assessed property and new value increases from plats or annexations, is
hereby authorized for the 19981evy in the amount of $359,151, which is a percentage
increase of six percent above the previous year.
