PERSONNEL POLICY AMENDMENT - MATERNAL/PATERNAL SHARED LEAVE
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YELM
AMENDING THE PERSONNEL POLICIES BY PROVIDING FOR USE OF
A MAXIMUM OF 15 DAYS OF SHARED LEAVE TO BENEFIT EMPLOYEES
TAKING MATERNAL/PATERNAL LEAVE.
WHEREAS, the-City of Yelm seeks,. to avail to employees the
opportunity to utilize the maternal/paternal benefits intended for
their use and provided in the Council adopted City of Yelm
Personnel .Policies; and
WHEREAS, situations may arise in which an employee lacks sufficient
combined accrued leave to utilize maternal/paternal benefits
creating a hardship on the employee and possibly resulting in the
employee taking leave without pay or terminating. his/her position;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YELM DOES RESOLVE
THAT THE YELM PERSONNEL POLICIES SHALL BE AMENDED AS FOLLOWS:
Yelm Personnel Polices, Chapter 7, Section 7.3, Sick Leave,
Paragraph (c)(6) is amended by the addition of the following
paragraph:
An employee lacking sufficient combined accrued leave to
take advantage of maternal/paternal leave benefits as
described in this section may request a maximum of
fifteen (15) days of shared leave. The employee must
meet requirements identified in the City's Shared Leave
Ordinance No. 472, as amended by Ordinance No. 501'.
