UCBO REZONE
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YELM EXPRESSING
THE INTENT OF THE COUNCIL WITH REGARD TO THE PROPOSED SPECIAL USE
ZONING FOR THE UNITED CITIZENS BETTERMENT ORGANIZATION COMMUNITY
CENTER ON CRYSTAL SPRINGS ROAD.
WHEREAS, the Yelm Planning Commission and the Yelm City Council
have each held public hearings regarding the special use zoning
of five acres east of Crystal Springs Road,
WHEREAS, the Commission has recommended that the requested zoning
be granted,
WHEREAS, the United Citizens Betterment Organization (UCBO) has
selected the property as the preferred site for its new community
center,
WHEREAS, UCBO has not had an opportunity to develop detailed site
plans for the property but has described the intended uses, and
WHERAS, the City Council finds the proposed uses of the property
to be consistent with the Yelm Comprehensive Plan and the
neighborhood.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YELM DOES
RESOLVE, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1.
That it is the intent of the Council to grant the requested
special use zoning for a community center.
Section 2.
That upon presentation of a site plan the Council will hold an
additional public hearing and will determine such conditions of
the zoning as are necessary to ensure neighborhood compatibility,
and upon determining such conditions will pass an appropriate
ordinance approving the requested zoning.
Section 3.
That the Council may consult with the Planning Commission to
determine appropriate measures to minimize conflicts between
neighboring land uses.
