220 Yelm Support For Operation Desert StormCITY OF YELM
RESOLUTION NO. 220
A RESOLUTION of the Yelm City Council in support of
those involved in OPERATION DESERT STORM.
WHEREAS, the City of Yelm fully recognizes the
terrible nature of war, and wishes to express their
support for those carrying out United States government
policy in the Persian Gulf in accordance with the res-
olution of the United Nations Security Council;
WHEREAS, the City of Yelm specifically wishes to
commend the exemplary courage, dedication, and profes-
sional skill of the men and women in Operation Desert
Storm and the support of their families at home;
WHEREAS, the City recognizes the care with which
the campaign has been planned and executed thus far
so as to minimize casualties, collateral damage, and
the war's duration;
WHEREAS, tale City acknowledges the skill and
knowledge of the scientists, engineers, and industrial
workers whose superior weapons and support systems
have contributed significantly to the achievement of
those objectives to date;
WHEREAS, the City of Yelm extends their deepest
sympathies to those who have been killed, wounded, or
are missing in action or being held prisoner, and to
their families; NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE YELM CITY COUNCIL that they
support those serving in the Persian Gulf and in honor
of those, have decorated the City of Yelm's Historic
Hawthorne Trees with yellow ribbons which will remain
until the United States troops have come home.
This resolution shall be effective on and after
the 27th day of February 1991.
