RESOLUTION NO. 217
A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Yelm to
adopt the Hoderate Riak Maste Plan for Thuraton County for the
sound management of moderate risk raatea generated by households
and by buaineaaea in small quantitiea.
MHEREAS, the Moderate Riek Waete Plan for Thuraton County
provides for management of moderate risk raatea which are
generated by households and by buaineaaea in emall quantitiea;
and
MHEREAS. RCM 70. 105.220(1) requires that each jurisdiction.
or combination of contiguous local jurisdictions, prepare a local
moderate risk caste management plan; and
WHEREAS, an estimated 920 to 1,919 tons of moderate risk
caste are generated annually by households and small quantity
generators in Thurston County; and
1HEREAS, moderate risk raatea from households and small
yuantity generators commonly enter the solid rash and rasterater
streams ar,d have been demonstrated to degrade the health of the
environment, end the City Council of the City of Yelm recognizes
that the health of the environment impacts the public health; and
MHEREAS, moderate risk castes from households are not
addressed by state or local regulation, and moderate risk castes
generated by small quantity generators are state regulated only
under certain circumstances; and
' WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Yelm advocates
environmentally sound caste management; and
-~ MHEREAS, the )moderate Risk Waste Plan for Thurston County
establishes guidelines for reducing the generation of household
and small quantity generator moderate risk castes and fur the
sate and responsible management and disposal of these wastes; NOW
THEREFORE
BE IT RESULVEU 8Y THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YELH, that
the )foderate kick Maste Plan for Thurston County is hereby
approved.
THIS RESOLUTION shall De ettective on and after the 28th day
of November, 1590.
