RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING
APPLICATION
Town of Yelm, bashington
A resolution authorizing applications for funding assistance for an
outdoor recreation project to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor
Recreation as pro~~ided by the Marine Recreation Land Act.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the Town of Yelm has approved a
"Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the areas served by the
Yelm School District and the incorporated limits of the Town, which
identifies a community park at the Cochrane Park site, on the western
part of the Town; and,
4JHEREAS, under provisions of the Marine Recreation '_and Act, state and
federal funding assistance has been authorized and made available to
aid in financing the cost of land for parks and the construction of
outdoor recreational facilities of local public bodies and;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the Town of Yelm considers it in the best
public interest to develop a community park on the property identified
as Cochrane Park which is generally located west of the Town of
Yelm adjacent to the Mill Road So:~theast;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the To-~;n of Yelm,
Washington,
1. That the Mayor be authorized to make formal application to the
Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation for fund
assistance,
2. That any fund assistance so received be used in the development
of property identified as Cochrane Park presently owned by this
Town,
3. That the Town's share of the project will be derived from
general operating funds, donations and volunteers,
4. The Town of Yelm does hereby certify that the town is
responsible to support all non-cash commitments to the local
share should they not materialize.
5. That any property acquired with financial aid through the
Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation be placed in use as
an outdoor recreation facility and be retained in such use in
perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and agreed to by the
City Council, the Interagency Committee or Outdoor Recreation,
and any affected federal agency, and
6. That this resolution become part of a formal application to the
Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation.
