A RESOLUTTON REGARDING MEMBERSHIP
IN THE
ASSOCIATION OF WASHIidGTON CITIE~ RISK M1~NAGEMENT TRUST
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF YELM, that:
WHEREAS, the Town of Yelm now contracts for various insurance
coverages and with various insurance carriers, and pays signifi-
cant premiiams for such coverages; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Yelm is a member of and a p~rticipant
in t~e Association of Washington Cities (AWC); and
WHEREAS, AWC has sponsored and is now sponsoring Risk Man- ,
agement Service Agency (RIMS), as a service to member cities, and
for the purpose of providing pooled self-insurance coverage,
group umbrella policies, and other and further risk-management
services; and '
WHEREAS, RIMS participation has been tentatively deter~?ined
to offer potential long-term savings and cost stability to the
Town of Yelm, and to be deserving of further study and of tenta-
tive commitment; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Yelm has been provided an opportunity
to review the formative Interlocal Agreement creating RIMS; and
WHEREAS, the Tawn Council of the Town of Yelm has submitted
the formative RIMS documents, including the Interlocal Agreement,
to its legal counsel to review for compliance with law; and
WHEREAS, such Interlocal Agreement provides that.participants
may withdraw therefrom within fifteen (15) days after a written
notification of such participant's estimated deposit, after the
same be calculated, or at such later date as the required member
deposit be determined to exceed the estimated deposit;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Town of Yelm does hereby enter i.nto a
Contract with RIASS, in accordance with the Interlocal Agreement,
a true copy o£ which is attached hereto and incorporated herein
by this reference; becomes a member of RIMS for a three-year
periad commencing on the date hereof (unless earlier terminated
pursuant to the Interlocal Agreement); and agrees to abide by the
terms of the Interlocal Aclreement, By-laws and Rules of RTMS i,n
accordance therewith. Those said instruments, together with thi~
resolutian, constitute the Contract between RIMS and the Town of
Yelm, and the Mayor of the Town of•Yelm is hereby authorized to
execute such documents as are necessary pursuant to this resolu-
tion.
