440 SR 507 Speed Limit City of Yelm Resolution No. 440 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION LOWER THE SPEED LIMIT ON S.R. 507 WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS. WHEREAS, the Washington State Department of Transportation establishes speed limits on State Route 507 within the corporate City limits; and WHEREAS, the speed limit on State Route 507 between the intersection of Yelm Avenue and 1 st Street and Mill Road is currently 25 MPH and the speed limit from Mill Road to the City limits is 55 MPH; and WHEREAS, the sudden transition from 55 MPH to 25 MPH creates conflict and an unsafe driving condition; and WHEREAS, the H~wks Landing and Nisqually Estates subdivisions contain 160 homes, the traffic from which enters State Route 507 at three intersections; and WHEREAS, children routinely cross State Route 507 between Carter Street and Brighton St~eet, which are located in the 55 MPH zone; and . WHEREAS, vehicular traffic is significantly noisier traveling at 55 MPH than 35 MPH and trucks create significant noise when stowing from 55 MPH to 25 MPH; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YELM, WASHINGTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: The City of Yelm requests the Washington State Department of Transportation lower the speed limit on State Route 507 between milepost 26.94 and 27.94 from 55 MPH to 35 MPH and that a crosswalk be installed between Brighton Street and Carter Street. ~ I PASS':::J a.rd s~ne~ in authentication on this 12th day of November, 2003 I . c ?i', """ Ad~ Rivas, Mayor Authenticated: /'" //¡/htd 0 ~.hntli Agnes P.
