501 Shared LeaveCITY OF YELM ORDINANCE NO. 501 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CITY OF YELM ORDINANCE NO. 472 AND ESTABLISHING A PROVISION FOR EXTENDING THE LEAVE SHARING PROGRAM TO INCLUDE MATERNAL/PATERNAL LEAVE. WHEREAS, public employees historically have joined together to help their fellow employees; WHEREAS, the Yelm City Council, in fostering this employee caring and support would like to make provisions to allow employees lacking sufficient accrued leave time to participate in maternal/ paternal leave benefits as intended by Council's approval of Yelm's Personnel Policy; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YELM, WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 1 of Ordinance No. 472 is hereby amended by the addition of the following paragraph: When conditions A, B, C, D, E, and G, as set forth in Section 2 have been met, an employee may request a maximum of fifteen (15) days of shared leave to allow participation in maternal/paternal leave as prescribed in Section 7.3,(c),(6) of Yelm's Personnel Policy. Section 2. Paragraph A, Section 2 of Ordinance No. 472 is hereby amended by the addition of the following paragraph: A. 1) or, an employee wishing to use maternal/paternal leave benefits will be forced to take leave without pay or to terminate employment with the City; Section 3. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall be in full force and take effect five ( 5 ) days after its publication according to law.
