517 WSDOT Speed LImit SR507City of Yelm
Resolution No. 517
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION RAISE THE SPEED LIMIT ON S.R. 507.
WHEREAS, the Washington State Department of Transportation establishes
speed limits on State Route 510 and State Route 510 Alternate; and
WHEREAS, the speed limit on State Route 510 between Southworth Elementary
School and the intersection of SR 510 and SR 510 Alternate is currently 35 MPH; and
WHEREAS, the speed limit on State Route 510 Alternate from its intersection
with SR 510 to its current terminus at Cullens Road is currently 35 MPH; and
WHEREAS, SR 510 Alternate was designed for a speed of 50 MPH and intended
to have a posted speed limit of 45 MPH; and
WHEREAS, SR 510 Alternate was intended to provide regional traffic a faster
and safer route than Yelm Avenue (SR 510); and
WHEREAS, raising the speed limit of SR 510 to SR 510 Alternate and SR 510
Alternate would better serve the Alternate Routes intended purpose;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Yelm,
Washington that:
Washington State Department of Transportation is hereby requested to raise the
speed limit on State Route 510 between milepost 12.71 and 13.28 from 35 MPH to 45
MPH, and to raise the speed limit of SR 510 Alternate between milepost 13.28 and
14.69 from 35 MPH to 45 MPH.
