331 Unauthorized Turn-onORDINANCE NO. 331
AN ORDINANCE relating to the municipal water system;
amending Section 22 of Ordinance No. 166 (1.974), and
Section 13.04.230 of the Yelm Municipal Code; render-
ing unauthorized turn -ons of municipal water service
a misdemeanor, and providing for a maximum penalty
for such misdemeanor; declaring an emergency, and
providing for an effective date.
BE IT ORDAINED AND ESTABLISHED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN
OF YELM, THURSTON COUNTY, WASHINGTON, as follows:
Section 1. Section 22 of ")rdinance No_ 16F (:1974) and
Section 13.04.230 of the Yelm Municipal Code are each amended
to read as follows:
"Unauthorized turn -on a misdemeanor; penalty. Should
the owner or occupant of any premises turn on the water
or suffer or cause the same to be turned on after it has
been shut off at the curb cock by the water superinten-
dent, water service may again be turned off by the super-
intendent and a service charge of ten dollars ($10.00)
charged for each and every such additional turn -off,
in addition to any regular turn -on charge otherwise pro-
vided for in law. In addition, each and every such
unauthorized turn -on shall be deemed a violation of the
criminal law and a misdemeanor, and shall be punishable
by a fine not exceeding two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00)
for each separate offense."
Section 2. Emergency. This ordinance is necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and
safety, and the support of the water department of the Town
of Yelm, and shall take effect immediately .
