968 Amend 9.24 Controlled SubstanceCITY OF YELM
ORDINANCE NO. 968
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Yelm, Washington, relating to the
amendment of Chapter 9.24 of the Yelm Municipal Code relating to
the possession of controlled substances.
WHEREAS, November 6, 2012, Washington voters approved Initiative
502 to legalize, regulate and tax of small amounts of marijuana; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 9.24 of the Yelm Municipal Code currently prohibits
the possession of marijuana; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to amend Chapter 9.24 to repeal all
sections relating to the possession of marijuana; and
WHEREAS, the Yelm City Council wishes to amend Chapter 9.24 of the Yelm
Municipal Code to adopt by reference, RCW 69.50; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YELM DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
1. Section 9.24.010 is amended to read as follows:
9.24.010 Adoption of state statutes, and Uniform Controlled Substances Act.
All of Chapter' 9.50 RCW, as it exists now or as hereafter amended, relating to drugs
and other controlled substances, defining crimes and prescribing penalties, are hereby
adopted by reference as though fully set forth in this chapter. Sections 9.24.020 through
9.24.060 are hereby repealed.
