YELM CITY COUNCIL
STUDY SESSION MINUTES
MONDAY, AUGUST 4,2003
6:00 P.M., PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY
1. Mayor Rivas called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.
2. Roll Call
Present: Pat Fetterly, Ron Harding, Bob Isom, Don Miller, Adam Rivas
and John Thompson.
Staff Present: Shelly Badger and Todd Stancil.
3. The agenda was approved as presented.
4. Special Presentations - None
5. Mayor/Council Initiatives Introduced/Discussed
a. Councilman Isom stated that the Community Development
staff would soon be asked to provide input in the Thurston
Regional Planning Council Vision/Reality project.
6. New Business:
a. Hazard Mitiqation Initiative - Todd Stancil gave an overview
of the "Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan for the Thurston
Region." City Council supported that a resolution be brought
forward for their action at the August 13, 2003 city council
meeting.
7. Old Business:
a. Community Memorial/Recoqnition Proqram Research - City
Council reviewed the sample provided, and made some changes.
City Council asked that staff prepare a draft ordinance for their
review and consideration.
b. City of Yelm Entrance Siqn Discussion - Councilman Harding
confirmed that the city was assuming the lead on the entrance sign
project. Several options were discussed on how to proceed. A
recommendation to authorize initial design work will be presented
at the A gust 13, 2003 city council meeting.
