YELM CITY COUNCIL
STUDY SESSION MINUTES
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 25,2003
6:00 P.M., PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY
1. Mayor Pro tem Ron Harding called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M.
2. Roll Call
Present: Bob Isom, Ron Harding, and Don Miller. Mayor Rivas arrived at approximately
6:40 PM. Excused: Pat Fetterly and John Thompson
3. Agenda Approval
Don Miller moved to accept the agenda as presented. Bob Isom seconded and the
motion carried 3-0.
4. Special Presentations - None
5. Mayor/Council Initiatives Introduced/Discussed
a. Councilmember Harding questioned whether the City Logo was trademarked.
City Administrator Shelly Badger indicated that the logo had not been
trademarked and it was the official logo of the Councilor Chamber and there is a
procedure in place to allow its use by others.
6. New Business
a. Update on recent development applications - Grant Beck reviewed the
BenumlCoyne subdivision application, which was granted preliminary approval
by the Hearing Examiner and the measures agreed to between the City and the
developers to protect the 5101507 Loop Corridor.
7. Old Business
a. WRIA 11 Watershed Plan Schedule and Update - Shelly Badger reviewed the
process that has been followed to develop the draft Nisqually Watershed Plan
and reviewed the draft policies and action items for the McAllister and Yelm sub-
basins. The Council agreed that only the Executive Summary should be routed
for Council review when it is issued by the Watershed Planning Unit and
supported Ms. Badger's representation of the City of Yelm in the development of
the Plan.
