1. Mayor Rivas called the meeting to order at 5:00 PM
2. Roll Call
Present: Don Miller, Joe Baker, Bob Isom, Ron Harding
Excused: Pat Fetterly
Staff Present: Shelly Badger, Maryam Olson, Grant Beck, Gary Carlson
3. The agenda was approved as presented.
4. Presentations:
Municipal Court Department Report - Maryam Olson provided information
concerning the types of cases heard and caseload, jail bed and revenue statistics
of the Municipal Court in 2003 and 2004 year to date.
5. Mayor /Council Initiatives Introduced /Discussed
a. Bob Isom requested the matter of motorized scooters be placed on a future
Council study session agenda for discussion. The Council set the matter for the
August study session and requested Police Chief Todd Stancil be present for the
discussion.
b. Ron Harding requested that the Council place on a study session agenda the
regulations relating to the use of City and County parks after dark. The Council
set the matter for the August study session.
6. New Business - None
Old Business
Sign Code Update - Grant Beck reviewed the process that had been used in
updating the Yelm Sign Code and the proposed amendments as exist in the
current Planning Commission draft. Councilman Harding indicated that the
Chamber of Commerce was still concerned with certain provisions of the latest
draft and requested that Mr. Beck attend the next Chamber Board meeting to
discuss the Sign Code. Mr. Beck indicated that he was available and had
pre\0ously offered to meet with the Chamber Board.
