RESOLUTION NUMBER 566
ADOPTION OF A STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN
WHEREAS, the City Council is committed to the environment and residents of the
City of Yelm and recognizes the benefits of a complete, active, and well prepared and
educated community on the impacts of stormwater runoff; and
WHEREAS, the Clean Water Act of 1972 set the objectives to restore and maintain
the chemical, physical, and biological integrity of the nation's waters, and required local
and state agencies to adopt environmental laws to help control point and nonpoint
pollution generating sources and manage stormwater runoff responsible; and
WHEREAS, the City Council and Mayor entered into a grant and loan contract with
the Washington State Department of Ecology to develop a Stormwater Management
Plan for the City of Yelm; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the City of Yelm Stormwater Management Plan is to
support a thriving, fully functional Surface Water Management program protecting the
residents, nurturing the environment, and actively contributing to the pride of the City of
Yelm; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Yelm City Council to adopt the
City of Yelm Stormwater Management Plan, including all volumes, chapters, and
appendices, attached to this resolution as Exhibit A, and forward the Plan to the
Washington State Department of Ecology for final approval.
