A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YELM ADOPTING THE YELM
CREEK COMPREHENSIVE FLOOD HAZARD MANAGEMENT PLAN (CFHMP), DATED AUGUST
2001.
WHEREAS, Yelm Creek frequently experiences flooding during the winter and early spring, and
within the last decade flooding has occurred almost every year; and
WHEREAS, two consecutive major flood events in 1996 and 1997 affected many property owners
along Yelm Creek; and
WHEREAS, the City assembled a Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) to recommend goals and
objectives and to guide the development of the CFHMP; and
WHEREAS, the CFHMP was developed in accordance with the Revised Code of Washington,
Chapter 86.26 and the Washington Administrative Code, Chapter 173.145; and
WHEREAS, an Environmental Determination of NonSignificance was issued on June 5, 2001 ,in
accordance with the State Environmental Policy Act (RCW 43.21C.110.84-05-020 and WAC 197-
11-965); and
WHEREAS, a public hearing was conducted by the Yelm Planning Commission on June 18, 2001;
now, therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YELM DO HEREBY RESOLVE that the Yelm Creek
Comprehensive Flood Management Plan, dated August 2001, is adopted.
