PRESENT: Kathy Wolf, Adam Rivas, Amos Lawton, Velma Curry, Martha Parsons, and
Don Miller, Guests: Glen Cunningham. Staff: Shelly Badger, Glenn Dunnam, and
Agnes Bennick
Chief Dunnam presented his 1998 proposed department budget.
Requested was a Machinery & Equipment line item increase of$7,110 for the first years
lease/purchase payment for a new police car. Funding would also be needed in 1999 and
2000 for the vehicle to be paid off.
Additional requests were for increases of $500 each in the reserve and officer overtime
lines.
Note: Insurance costs will need to be increased
Major current fund revenue projections were reviewed, with packets showing basis for
estimates.
Discussion: Referendum 47, hotel/motel tax rates, and gambling tax rates. No changes
recommended at this time.
Councilmember Parsons requested additional information on sales and use tax.
Councilmember Miller spoke of difficulties being experienced by the public works
department in matching well reports to billing reports. Problems are also being
encountered when builders don't inform renters/buyers of the need to have utility services
transferred out of the builder's name.
